Far away, in a quiet corner of Middle Earth, there lived a race of people. And though few in the outside world knew of them, the time would come when Hobbits would shape the fortunes of all." - J.R.R Tolkien
"The ability of people-anyone- to change the world is a major theme (of Lord of the Rings). I know it's cliché, but the story says that even a small person, this hobbit, can change the way the world is ran." Billy Boyd.
BBloonscharities.net shares the same belief that J.R.R.Tolkien emphasized in his writings, that even the smallest person can make an impact in their world. Every item purchased from our Online Shop contributes to the needs of our selected charities. Your donations are also a tribute to Billy Boyd, and the impact he has made on our lives.
This year, the main charity that we'll support with this project will be the Scottish Youth Theatre! Additionally we will be holding different auctions, with the full amount of the winning bid sent to Unicef for their South Asia Tsunami Crisis Relief Fund. Also, our Operation Iraqi Children School Kit Program Support is still running. For more Information on how to support these Charities and Programs through us, please visit our Participate-Page.
The Scottish Youth Theatre is Scotland’s National theatre ‘for and by’ young people. The aim of the Theatre is give young people in Scotland the opportunity to explore and to reach their creative potential through a quality theatre arts experience. Billy Boyd, who started out at the Theatre as an usher, has stated that the company is about much more than discovering talent. “It’s a great place, but 75% of Scottish Youth Theatre’s work focuses on personal and social development through the creative process. Over the years, it has assisted tens of thousands of Scots youngsters.”
Billy is the figurehead of the attempt to raise funds to give the Theatre a new home in Glasgow’s Merchant City. Billy stated in The Scotsman, “I think it is so important to have things like this, not just for art and drama or keeping kids off the street, but for their social development.”
