what we have achieved in 2003
September was our start-up month for the project, and the website.
In November, we received our first commission check from the sales at our OnlineShop for Help the Aged.

As a Christmas present to Billy, we sponsored the collection of monetary donations that were paid directly to an environmental non-profit organization, the John Muir Trust in Scotland, in Billy' name. The John Muir Trust sent Robin an acknowledgement letter, addressed to Billy, thanking him for the donation made by Billy's Loons Charities. These donations totaled $250.00. A big part of this amount came from one of our member's, Garfeimao, line party for the opening night showing of Return of the King in Newport Beach, CA. Thank you to the line party participants for their donations!
The very talented members of this project designed a calendar as another Christmas present for Billy. It was offered at our online shop too. The monthly pages of the calendar included drawings, poems, limericks, and word search games (with a special Oscar message to Billy) created by Billy's loons.

Now for the most exciting part of 2003, some of us loons were tremendously lucky enough to attend the Los Angeles Premiere of Return of the King, and the after party with the cast. So, we were able to personally give Billy his custom 2004 calendar, the letter of acknowledgement from John Muir Trust, several pin-buttons advertising our project, and also a Billy's Loons Charities sweatshirt from our online shop.

We received another commission check from the online shop in December for Help the Aged. Our total commissions for the, basically, 3 months of 2003 that we were in operation is $112.00. Considering that each product sold through the online shop earns $1 to $3. in commissions, this is a great start!
Thank you all for supporting the project, and here's to a prosperous, hobbity New Year!
